Introduction
How The L.A.B. connects community voices, Black-owned businesses, and resource research to action.
The L.A.B. brings leaders, advocates, business owners, and neighbors together to understand what communities already have, what they need, and how to act together. The Directory makes Black-owned businesses and organizations easier to find. Community stories and listening sessions bring lived experience into the work. The nonprofit landscape audit and coverage-gaps view help organize research on where resources may be harder to reach. Together, these pieces make The Plan a working guide rather than a finished promise.
Our first step is to listen and document. We will compare what residents and organizations report with local evidence, identify gaps without assuming that an unlisted resource does not exist, and invite nearby partners to respond. We will share what we learn, name practical next steps, and update this document as findings are confirmed. The goal is stronger access, collaboration, and accountability for Black communities in both urban and rural places.
